Whats new in ReSharper 6

With the introduction of ReSharper 6, JetBrains proves once again that they are able to surprise us with new and exciting features we just got to have! Lets look at some of the new functionality that's available in ReSharper 6.The biggest step in ReSharper 6 is the support for CSS and JavaScript with features like:

jetbrains.com

  • Syntex highlighting/Color palette
  • CSS validation
  • File structure and goto file
  • Find usage
  • Code completion
  • Renaming
  • JavaScript unit testing with QUnit

One giant leap toward the same support for CSS and JavaScript in JetBrains ReSharper as for C# etc!

For those using ReSharper for C# or Visual Basic there are two great new features  as well.

Enhanced suggestions with explanations

The never ending discussion whether ReSharper makes us better or dumber will hopefully be a little more biased with the introduction on explanations for ReSharpers suggestions. Instead of the simple one line explanation/guidance we are used to, ReSharper gives us the option to go into more details on why ReSharper is recommending us to change our code. The information is located on a wiki on the  JetBrains site. There are so far about 40 articles, but this will hopefully increase over time!

For those using ReSharper 5 or earlier you can check out the old WhySharper from which ReSharper got the idea!

Free decompiler

ReSharper 6 is also bundled with a free standalone decompiler! For now this comes bundled with ReSharper, but the rumours says it will be provided as a free stand alone application in the future.

The two best features as I see them are decompile from the source code:

And even better, directly from the Object Browser:
